Shirley Howell » Welcome

Welcome

Welcome to 3rd Grade and Room 8. It is my pleasure to have your child in my class this year and I am looking forward to working with all of you. Together, we have a common goal which is to help our children develop a love for learning. I have high academic and behavioral expectations for every student. Together, we will succeed in helping each child to learn to the best of their ability. Together, we will make this a great year!

Homework:

*Homework is posted on our Class Schoology page weekly along with a parent letter with important information.  A paper copy of the homework assignments will be sent home at the beginning of each week. Please keep handy and refer to our Schoology page at the beginning of each week.

  • Each student will be given a Red Homework Folder that they need to bring to school every day. Students are expected to return homework every night.
  • Students will have nightly math homework in their Succeed Eureka Math Workbook. Please keep the SUCCEED book at home and tear out the homework lessons for that night. Put the completed math homework in the red folder and bring it back to school the next day. **Students take home their LEARN/Practice book pages from each day. These lessons mirror the homework and should be referred to while doing homework.
  • Students will have nightly/weekly spelling/grammar/comprehension homework in the form of a Trifold. Each night a short page/s will be assigned and the completed Trifold will be turned in on Friday.
  • Students will have a Word Work Packet each week. Pages from the packet will be assigned nightly. The completed packet will be turned in on Friday.
  • Homework is an important opportunity for review and subject mastery.
  • Weekly homework assignments, class news, and important information will be posted in Schoology on our class course page.

    Remind App:

Parents, please sign up on the Remind App through your cell phone. Send a text to 81010 and text @room820232. After you sign up with the parents full name, please add your child’s (full name) in parenthesis so I can make the connection. This is a safe and quick way to get messages between teacher and parent. It is totally private and no one will see your messages/responses except me.

    Send Me an Email:

Please send me an email at: [email protected]. Please put your child’s name in the subject line. Thank you. It makes it easier for me to set up our classroom email group so I can send you information.

I know that we will have a successful, exciting, and productive year in 3rd Grade. I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this year. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me via email, message through Remind, or make an appointment to meet with me before or after school.

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. Howell
