Welcome to Room 21

Hello,

My name is Mr. Donis and I’m so happy to welcome you to both Calabash and kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year!  I look forward to working with you throughout the school year so that your kiddo has a fun, engaging, and well-rounded kindergarten experience.

I have been a member of LAUSD since 2004 when I started my career as classroom aide.  I learned from that experience that being a kindergarten teacher was where I belong in the teaching world; 20 years later and I still love my job!  It is a joy to teach our youngest Calabash Cubs how to read, write, count, add, etc.  It’s amazing to see their growth both academically and socially.

As a parent, you are experiencing many emotions as your kiddo begins the school year.  This is completely normal, and I am happy to say that these feelings turn to joy as you see your kiddo enjoy going to school and becoming part of our school/classroom community.  

I am sure that as a parent to kindergarten kiddo, you will have many questions along the way; that is wonderful and welcomed.  The entire UTK/kindergarten team is here to be of service to both students and parents.  Below this message are some links to webpages and portals that you will be using this school year.  I highly encourage all parents to fill out the volunteer application if you are interested in assisting in the classroom this school year.
