Room 1 Third Graders and Families,
Welcome! It is my pleasure to have your child in my class this year, and I am looking forward to working with all of you. Third Grade is a very special year with lots of growth and gains. Together, we will help each child succeed to the best of their ability and develop a love for learning. Let’s make this year the best year ever!
Homework:
- Homework is an important opportunity for review and subject mastery.
- Each student will be given a Red Homework Folder that they need to bring to school every day. Homework assignments and fliers will be sent home in these folders. Please check them daily. These are also used to return homework assignments or notes/forms for the teacher/office. Please send a note containing an excuse for your child’s absence upon their return.
- Students will have nightly math homework in their Succeed Eureka Math Workbook. Please keep the SUCCEED book at home and tear out the homework lessons for that night. Put the completed math homework in the red folder and bring it back to school the next day. Students will take home the Problem Set that we completed together in class. These mirror the homework Succeed problems. Each day, the teacher will assign 1-2 problems by circling the problems on the Problem Set. These mirror the only problems the students need to complete for homework (For example, if we have #3 circled on the Problem Set, they will do #3 on the Succeed homework page).
- ELA homework consists of word work packets. These are due on Fridays.
- Your child may need access to a device to complete any online components or to take advantage of the many educational games they may want to play. Please keep your child’s email and password handy!
- Students are encouraged to read each night. This can be anything they enjoy reading.
- Weekly homework assignments, class news, and important information will be posted in Schoology on our class course page. Assignments and routines may change throughout the year as needed, so please make sure to check this often!
Send Me an Email ASAP:
Please send me an email at: [email protected]. Please put your child’s name in the subject line. Please make sure to use the email you check most frequently. This is how I will send out most information, and this will make it easier to set up my contact list. Thank you.
Do you have questions about our school or class? Stay informed these 3 ways:
- Our School websites- on https://calabashacad.lausd.org/. General schoolwide information is posted here.
- Schoology- All instructions, assignments, independent work, missing work, zoom links, announcements, grades, etc. can be accessed here. Go to lms.lausd.net and use your school email and password. You need to check the site daily. Parents can access this too.
- Email- If something you need is not posted or is still unclear, I am happy to try to help! Please contact me with your concerns or questions about assignments or activities. Don’t forget to add your child’s name on the subject line. My contact information is listed above or accessible through the school website (simply click my name).
I hope you all enjoyed your summer break and made memories and stories to share with us as we come back to school. I’ll see you tomorrow… with your thinking caps on!
Sincerely,
